A couple of months ago I decided to fill out my LinkedIn account. Before, it just listed my name, but I decided to post my accomplishments over the last 20 years. Now, so you know, I have not been employed by anyone outside of my home for 18 years, except for a temporary medical transcription job that I performed for a couple of months. So, I am sure you're all asking: "What did you put on your LinkedIn account?
I have lived a full life and I have worked hard! Yes, I have college degrees, but that's not what matters the most. I love being a wife and mother! I love serving in my church and in my community! As I reflected on all the knowledge, time, and skills that has been required of me to accomplish these rolls, the page quickly filled up. It was thrilling! Even better, I was pleased with all those accomplishments.
Now, my LinkedIn account is not shared with very many people; I think it is about five or six. But, I didn't fill it out to show off my skills for everyone else to see; I did it for me. I wanted to "celebrate what [I've] accomplished!"
Challenge: Take some time to list your skills and accomplishments over the past 10-20 years. Think of absolutely everything. You just might be amazed!
This is really great! I pulled a lot of my experience from my service at home and to others. It's invaluable to society. I don't think people realize that's even more important than skills learned at work. Love it.
