Don't give Satan cause to rejoice

Yesterday, after having shared a 4th of July dinner with my side of the family, we hopped on the freeway to pick up my oldest daughter from work in another county.  Not long after we crossed the county lines, our car (the only one that has been working) lost power on the freeway!  We were blessed with safety and enough momentum to coast to the right shoulder where we waited and waited in the heat for the tow truck.  I could see my dear husband begin to feel the burden of our load and I admit I was feeling a little like the prophet, Job.  As I considered Job's story in my mind, I was encouraged.  Satan wanted us to give up and curse God.  He wanted us to murmur and complain.  But there was no way I was going to give him cause to rejoice.  So it was time to count our blessings:
  • We were all safe.
  • We had a cellphone to call for help.
  • We had AAA, so our tow truck and help was very efficient
  • We (six of us) were all going to fit inside the tow truck.
  • Our daughter was able to get a ride home from work because of a coworker who wouldn't let her say "no".
  • Our neighbor was willing to go get our daughter from work.
  • We were all going to get home safely and still enjoy the firework displays.
God knows our circumstances and our every needs. He will provide a way if we trust in his promises. Don't give up on him!  Don't give Satan cause to rejoice!
